Johannesburg - Dagga plants were removed in three different areas in Katlehong on the East Rand on Thursday, Ekurhuleni metro police said.
They were removed during a joint operation called "Operation Insango" (Operation Dagga) by metro police, the SA Police Service and community patrollers, Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said.
"Three bushy areas near rivulets equivalent to a football field in size around Hattingh bridge in Hlongawne section, as well as at the Kwesine hostel premises, were targeted," said Kgasago.
He said uprooted dagga was loaded into two 10-ton trucks.
No arrests had been made yet.
