Cape Town - Three people accused of killing Clovelly woman Rosemary Theron, 39, appeared in the Simonstown Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, where their case was postponed to 10 October 2013.

The three included Theron's daughter, Phoenix Racing Cloud Theron, 18.

The Cape Times reported on Wednesday that Phoenix Theron and her partner, Kyle Maspere, 19, were led down to the holding cells and taken to Pollsmoor Prison after the brief court appearance.

The third accused, Godfrey Scheepers, 20, was released on bail of R500 on Monday. He made a confession to police last week, which led to the discovery of Rosemary Theron's body in a shallow grave in Strandfontein. She had gone missing six months earlier.

According to the Cape Times, Phoenix Theron stood in the dock between her two co-accused, but did not make eye contact with the others.

A family friend of the deceased expressed shock at the developments, saying friends and family were worried that a "dark and sinister element" may have played a role in the murder.

The Cape Argus reported on Tuesday that evidence presented in court alleged that Phoenix Theron and Maspere plotted the murder while under the influence of drugs. The daughter allegedly hugged her mother and said "Sorry for fighting" before Maspere crept up behind her and strangled her.

Theron and Maspere are expected to apply for bail at their next court appearance.
