Durban - A Durban taxi driver and conductor were arrested for allegedly raping a passenger, police said on Tuesday.
Captain Thembeka Luthuli said the incident took place in a taxi on Saturday at Durban's Addington Beach.
It is alleged that a 22-year-old woman boarded a taxi in Berea and was going to the Point area when the incident took place.
"Instead of the taxi dropping her off at her destination...the taxi driver drove towards Addington Beach where he and the conductor raped her," said Luthuli.
A vendor reported the crime to Metro police.
"The victim was found in a car and the two suspects were arrested," she said.
Both men are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court shortly, police said.
