Dead baby found on train

Cape Town - The police were searching on Friday for the mother of a newborn baby found dead in a bag in a train carriage at Cape Town station on Thursday.

Spokesperson FC van Wyk said: "The police found the body of a newborn baby dumped inside a train carriage at the railway station on Thursday afternoon.

"The baby had been wrapped in a blue sheet and put in a black plastic bag.

The umbilical cord had still been attached to the baby."

Police were investigating a case of concealment of birth.
