Decomposed body found in hospital

2010-05-17 17:03
Durban - The decomposed body of a 36-year-old woman was found on the premises of the Prince Mshiyeni hospital, in Umlazi, on Monday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

"A passer-by saw the body and alerted the hospital. A murder case has been opened as blood stains were found on the woman's clothing," said Lieutenant-Colonel Vincent Mdunge.

He said the body was found at 08:30 on Monday outside the hospital building.

KwaZulu-Natal health MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo's spokesperson Chris Maxon said the department was aware of the discovery and that police were investigating.

In January it was reported that the body of a baby had gone missing from the hospital's mortuary.
Hospital staff did not know what had happened to it.

Four people were being investigated over the disappearance of the baby's body.
