Decomposing body found in Limpopo river

2012-01-24 18:07

Johannesburg - The body of a man was found floating in the Blyde River near Hoedspruit, on Tuesday, Limpopo police said.

Patrol officers found him among debris about 15m from the shore, said Lieutenant Colonel Ronel Otto.

It appeared that the man had been in the river for quite a while as his body had started decomposing.

Otto said it was not clear whether he could have been the occupant of a vehicle which was swept off a bridge in the area on January 19.

The vehicle had not been recovered, she said.

Police have urged the public to report any information about missing people to their nearest police stations.
