Pretoria - A man has lodged a complaint with the SA Human Rights Commission for allegedly being ridiculed and humiliated by staff at a Pretoria testing station.

Dane Wilson, who was born without his left hand tried to renew his driving license a week ago, but said he left the Waltloo Testing Station after being mocked by an official, Eyewitness News reported on Wednesday.

Wilson claimed that a testing station employee told him he needed medical certificates to prove he could drive.

The employee then mocked Wilson by bending her hand to her shoulder and wiggling it around while asking how he changed gears with no left hand.

Wilson said he obtained his driving license without restriction and has renewed it three times in the 12 years he has been driving.

The Tshwane municipality apologised to Wilson and said an investigation into the incident has begun.
