Johannesburg - A man in a wheelchair wrestled with a robber at his home in Humansdorp near Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape police said on Friday.
The man, 55, was watching television when the suspect entered his house through an unlocked door on Thursday afternoon.
"The intruder assaulted the man and tied a rope around his neck, and dragged the complainant in the house... but he challenged his intruder," Lieutenant Colonel Priscilla Naidu said.
Naidu said the assailant pulled the rope and the man fell off his wheelchair, but still managed to fight him back with his hands.
She said the robber left with a laptop worth R6 000.
The matter was reported to police when the man's wife came home from work.
The robber was still being sought.
