Doctor held for child trafficking

2012-03-30 19:31

Durban - Two more people, a doctor and his wife, have been arrested in connection with human trafficking and a child sex ring in KwaZulu-Natal, police said on Friday.

Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mdunge said the couple was expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court later on Friday on charges of human trafficking and operating a brothel.

Nonduzo Dlamini, 23, Bhabha Dubazini, 29, and Sandile Zweni have already appeared in court in connection with the case that saw police rescue some 24 girls from a building in Durban's Point area.

The area has a reputation of being plagued by prostitution and drugs.

Mdunge said the couple was arrested at an upmarket resort in Umhlanga, about 15km north of Durban.

Packing his suitcase

"The couple had been given an ultimatum to hand themselves over to the police upon their return from Mauritius."

However, they failed to do so and police arrested them. According to Mdunge the doctor was packing his suitcase when police arrested him.

"We gave him a chance to hand himself over. When we asked him why he didn’t do so, he said he was scared," Mdunge said.

When police made the initial arrests in February, they reportedly found 16 girls, some as young as 12, under the influence of drugs.

On 19 February, KwaZulu-Natal Social Development MEC Weziwe Thusi urged parents to claim the girls.

Mdunge said on Friday there were in fact 24 girls trapped in the ring. So far, nine had been returned to their parents. The others were being kept in a place of safety.

It's the only time I'd say export these two in chains on a long no meals journey by ship to a place where THE most primitive punishments are still used. The worst kind of atrocity deserves the worst possible punishment.

DON'T DO UPON OTHERS WHAT YOU DON'T WANT OTHERS TO DO UPON YOU. Doctors, Teachers, Religious Leaders, Civil Servants, etc were people that was once well respected and regarded as mentors. What is happening to the people of this world, has life become so modern that people tend to lose their values, culture and religion over money. People are generally following the material world instead of the spiritual one, hence ending themselves into trouble. Thus I would say that if this doctor and his accomplices are guilty of the said offences they should pay the heaviest price for their crimes. These kids are so vulnerable at a tender age of 12 that they believe in adults not realizing the ultimate consequences. These deeds doesn't just affect the individuals, it affects their entire family as well as society. Surely he would not have done it to his own child, sister, mother or wife. The consequences of these deeds mostly end up ir-repairable. The judge should show no mercy upon them, let them rot in jail. These kids are human, no matter what creed colour or age they are, these girls should not be treated like items that you can buy off the shelf. Just one word left to say...... Siss!!!!!

Lets see what punishment the courts will hand to those monsters.

What a pity, THE DEATH PENALTY would have done nicely, but then again we are in South Africa. LOL, Our jails have become better than 5 star hotels with services such as FREE accomodation, hot water, meals, health care, full uniform, education, water and electricity, etc. With THANKS and COMPLIMENTS from the hard hit law abiding tax payers of this country.
