Dogs maul toddler to death

Johannesburg - A three-year-old boy was mauled to death by dogs in the yard of the farm Welverdiend near Wolmaransstad on Sunday, said police.
Emmanuel Selehelo and seven-year-old Melita Papalagae had squeezed underneath the locked back gate to give money to the farmer at 11:30, said Inspector Sam Tselanyane.
The farmer was at church. His dogs - two Rottweilers and a boerboel - attacked the children.
Melita escaped and ran for help. The dogs grabbed hold of Emmanuel and bit him.
His father was unable to rescue him until the farm owner returned and locked the dogs in a cage.
Emmanuel taken to hospital by ambulance but died on the way.
Police were investigating, said Tselanyane, adding that the dogs had not been destroyed.
