Durban - A man and a woman have been arrested at King Shaka International Airport outside Durban for smuggling cocaine, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.

Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mdunge said the 28-year-old woman was caught carrying 540g of powdered cocaine in her luggage on Thursday.

"The suspect is believed to have been travelling from Sao Paulo, Brazil, connecting to Dubai and destined for King Shaka Airport in Durban," Mdunge said.

The woman's alleged accomplice, a 30-year-old Nigerian, was arrested after he attempted to flee from the police.

The two will appear in the Verulam Magistrate's Court later on Friday, on charges of dealing in illegal drugs and drug trafficking.

I sincerely hope that the court makes a good example of them. The cops should have followed them to the kingpins however, and it is they that should receive capital punishment.

Remember guys, drug dealers are extremely clever. Why put cocaine in your luggage if you are smuggling it into a country that is on red alert for drug smugglers. So they took the attention away from where the bigger quantity of drugs are entering the country. Good work though. The authorities have done there job and the law must take it's course.
