Drug woman's paralysis a mystery

2012-03-06 09:13

Durban - Ugandan authorities have arrested a man for supplying contaminated cocaine to a South African woman and an American TV producer two weeks ago.

Amazing Race producer Jeff Rice died in his hotel room after taking the drug, while Kathryne Fuller was found unconscious. Once she regained consciousness she was briefly detained by Ugandan authorities, reported the Daily News.

After pleading guilty to possession of drugs last Thursday, Fuller was released and flown home to South Africa to get treatment.

She is paralysed in the right side of her body and has lost motor skills. She is apparently unable to sit or stand and is kept sedated because she is in a lot of pain.

She is able to talk a bit, said a family spokesperson.

Doctors at Entabeni Hospital in Durban are said to be stumped about her condition.

They are still running tests to find out what is causing the paralysis.

Indeed Rip, the punishment does not fit the crime, it was obviously a bit foolish to take drugs, especially in another country, but she hardly deserves to be partially paralyzed for the rest of her life I would think.

@ Henning: What you mean the KFC Colonel isn't a real colonel? my life is shattered. As for drugs, its common knowledge that dealers cut their product to increase profit, and that dubious cutting agents including rat poison are used as filler, every time someone takes a drug they are playing Russian roulette and must accept the possibility that this sort of thing could and does happen. Bottom line is she gambled and lost, no sympathy required.

      Henning - 2012-03-06 10:38

Sheesh, tough crowd. whatever man, like ur hands are clean of sins or mistakes, like ur sh&* don't stink.
