Johannesburg - Three metro police
officers were seriously injured in Johannesburg after a suspected drunk driver
crashed into their vehicle, a spokesperson said on Monday.
Two women from the Johannesburg
Metro Police Department (JMPD) and one male officer were injured in an accident
after finishing duty at the alcohol evidence centre in Randburg on Sunday
evening, said chief superintendent Wayne Minnaar.
"The vehicle they were in
collided with another car and the driver of that other car was drunk," he
said.
The three officers and the driver of
the other car were seriously injured and hospitalised.
The accident happened around 23:00
along Modderfontein Road in Glen Austin, Midrand.
Minnaar said all four people were
still in hospital on Monday morning.
"A blood sample has been taken for a case of drunken driving to be
opened," he said.
