Durban - A man, who was part of a gang that held up a liquor shop in Tongaat, north of Durban, was killed in a shoot-out with the police on Monday.

Five men held up the shop before fleeing in a bakkie and an Opel Corsa on Monday afternoon, said Lt-Colonel Vincent Mdunge.

Police were alerted, found the bakkie and a shootout ensued in which one of the robbers died. A second man was arrested.

The other three men in the Opel Corsa got away.

Mdunge said cash and airtime vouchers taken from the liquor shop were recovered.

Ja but sooner or later the corrupt cops will shut the unit down and arrest the good cops for being a "death squad" when more of their criminal buddies get shot dead..

Congratulations SAPS Tongaat, well done. Set the example. The State has its own Attorneys to defend its employees.
