Girl kidnapped by drug addict mom

2011-11-29 14:39

Durban - A 10-year-old girl was kidnapped from her school in Seaview, Durban, on Tuesday morning, the girl’s family told News24.

McKayla Raynard, who celebrates her birthday on Tuesday, was abducted from Seaview primary school by her mother and two men between 10:30 and 11:00.

Her mother is a drug addict and a prostitute, said Nicole Siffing, a friend of the family.

Raynard’s grandmother has custody of the child.

The little girl was snatched from her classroom by her mother after sneaking past teachers.

Raynard has a dark complexion, between 1.4-5m tall and was last seen wearing a maroon T-shirt with her school logo and black shorts. She has black hair and very dark eyes. Her grandmother described her as “stroppy”.

Her mother is between 1.5-1.7m tall, is very dark, has black hair and eyes and is a size 30-32.

She was then driven off in a silver Opel Corsa, the registration of which is NRB-62310. The vehicle is registered to a man who lives in Shrimptail Road in Richard’s Bay.

Anyone with information can call the Seaview police on 031 451 2804.

I HOPE THEY FIND HER SOON AND TAKE THE MOM TO A DRUG REHAB CENTRE

      Sophie - 2011-11-29 14:57

Amanda - you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink. A drug addict has to WANT to change so they have to go to rehab on their own. No-one can force them. News24 - are we supposed to be looking for a black, coloured, or indian woman?? Stop being so PC! FFS

      Airborne68 - 2011-11-29 15:28

Sophie, look at the picture of the little girl. She looks like she is coloured.

      daniele.zanato - 2011-11-29 16:15

@airborne68 so what you are saying is that the mother could be coloured, black or white then. Good job.

      Monique - 2011-11-30 12:42

No airborne68, she is indian-put on your glasses!

      Gregory - 2011-11-30 13:15

Monique - the mother and the daughter are 'Colored', not Indian. Just to clarify that. If you're able to access Facebook, here's the Link to our Page - scroll through and you will find a Pic of Calene Rutgers, the mother - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=549132794&ref=tn_tnmn#!/groups/124583014321068/

hate reading these stories... obviously the grandmother was given custody because the law found her to be an unfit mother - if she wanted to change that point of view, this was definitely not the way to go. hope this little one comes home safe.

  • Lynn - 2011-11-29 14:53

What a happy Birthday. Poor child. I hate it when kids suffer because of adults addictions. I hope they find her soon.

  • Jo - 2011-11-29 14:54

Surely the school must have restricted access by mean of electric gates? Was the teacher in the clessroom? I ask these questions as a retired teacher. I hope they find this little girl soon and punish the mother and the men.

  • Dmitri - 2011-11-29 14:56

What exactly is the government doing to curb the drug issue here in SA??? @JohnnyBGood - a valid question. The answer is because children are innocent and at that age look to their parents / family for protection. I hope both the parent(s) and child get the help that they need.

      Barefoot - 2011-11-29 15:12

Even for mom's kidnapping their own kids we'll blame the government this really is South Africa

  • Peter - 2011-11-29 14:59

    May you rot in hell...

      Dmitri - 2011-11-29 15:06

peter, please explain what part of my comment offends you. Maybe you should get out of your glass house and have a look at the real world. Remember, as you judge, you will be judged.

      Peter - 2011-11-29 15:15

@Dmitri: Not you.. Sorry. The mom! Drug addicted and then getting her 10yr old involved. I hope it's not to make money of the kid (God forbid!) to carry her addiction!

      Dmitri - 2011-11-29 16:08

      @Peter - no probs :)

  • Barefoot - 2011-11-29 15:05

      Kosie - 2011-11-29 15:57

      Barefoot - 2011-11-29 17:21

Lol realized after i wrote it, but u know what i mean ;-)

  • johangro - 2011-11-29 15:05

I used to be a teacher in this school. Security is generally good. Electronic gates, fenced etc. Thing is, she is a parent and if you want something bad enough you will find a way. I live in the area, but i doubt the car going to be cruising around there. BBM messages flying around to everyone.

  • Grim - 2011-11-29 15:08

Happy birthday to you.. Hope you are alright and we all find you safe and alive.

  • Samantha - 2011-11-29 15:14

      Gregory - 2011-11-30 13:17

It is on Twitter. Can everybody please just post it wherever they are able to, their FB Pages, eMails, and any other. Thank you

  • Shirley - 2011-11-29 15:18

How sad that children suffer because of delinquent parents! It sounds like this poor childs life hasnt been easy up to now and now this. Lock the mother up and throw away the key! I hope and pray she is found quickly and unharmed.

  • pennykatz - 2011-11-29 15:20

I am curious as to what her employment has to do with the kidnapping.Surly the focus should be on the little girl and not what her mothers employment is. Stop sensationalizing things and stick to the facts that matter.

      Heiku - 2011-11-29 16:30

      Isnt being a prostitute illegal?

      Kerri- Lee Barlow - 2011-11-29 18:47

And? Since when does doing something illegal or being forced into something illegal make u a bad person at heart? The only reason the news would mention the mothers lifestyle is for people to over react. And be against the mom. For all you know she has been cut out of her daughters life and just wanted to see her daughter on her birthday.

      Gregory - 2011-11-30 13:19

It really is better not to speculate here. Penny - due to the areas she MIGHT have taken her daughter to.................. this was the reasoning behind releasing that information. So, in this case, it was not sensationalism, but necessary

  • Zani - 2011-11-29 15:24

This is sooooo sad! A child is the most precious gift from God!! Can't believe a mother can do such a disgusting thing. I agree, the mother should be locked away forever!!

  • Anlie - 2011-11-29 15:28

this is about this poor child that has been kidnapped. Lets all focus on finding her first then worry about what punishment the mother deserves. The childs well being is the most in portant. The mother can go to hell

  • Anlie - 2011-11-29 15:30

Lets all focus on the childs well being and finding her, then focus on what the mother needs and deserves. The child is the most important issue. Hope they find her soon will praying

  • mdebruyn1 - 2011-11-29 15:41

does it really matter what the color of the little girl is? whats important is finding her as soon as possible. A woman thats addictive to drugs won't think twice of selling her own children to men for money or drugs. Its sad but true. The only thing people can do is try to keep a look out for her and try and help find the little girl. And yes they should lock her up and throw away the key.

      leonie.drury - 2011-11-29 16:17

the only reason they are mentioning her colour is so we can find her... "little girl goes missing".. erm, could you offer us a description please?! its not about race, its being descriptive as possible to aid in finding her as quickly as possible.....

  • Ben - 2011-11-29 15:46

    Junkies are such pathetic beings...

  • clare.debeer - 2011-11-29 15:47

we need a picture of the mother !!

      Gregory - 2011-11-30 13:19

See my post lower down with a Link to Facebook, if you have access. Thanks

  • Gcwabe-KaMavovo - 2011-11-29 15:58

Could she have promised her drug suppliers her daughter in exchange for them settling her drug debts? Actually, I don't even wanna go there.

      richard.hipkin - 2011-11-29 16:17

It happens, trust me..you not far off in many cases, I just hope it isn't so here.

      Kerri- Lee Barlow - 2011-11-29 18:42

There are always two sides to every story. Just because a person is in a life path that others deem wrong doesn't mean she's a bad person. It doesn't even specify what drugs. Not all people who succumb to addiction and its lifestyle are bad.

      Kerri- Lee Barlow - 2011-11-29 18:43

"There are always two sides to every story. Just because a person is in a life path that others deem wrong doesn't mean she's a bad person" She's kidnapped her child. She is a prostitute and an addict, so what kind of life do you think that this child is now going to have??? And as someone mentioned in a previous comment, what if she has "sold" the poor child to settle drug debts, or, get more drugs???

      Gregory - 2011-11-30 13:20

Kerry-Lee, I can assure you it's not Disprins, unfortunately

  • Mpumi - 2011-11-29 16:33

This is an indictment to the lack of Security in our schools. How can she sneak past Teachers? Where were Security guards? How many more innocent Children and Teachers must die or be kidnapped before the Department of Education sees the urgency of ensuring that every school has a security guard. Every Government building, i.e (Hospitals, Offices, Jails, etc ), has Security guards, and WHY NOT SCHOOLS?? Are the lives of Learners and Teachers that CHEAP????

  • duettists - 2011-11-29 16:36

Poor little girl! What a traumatic way to spend her birthday. I sincerely hope she is found very soon and returned to her grandmother unharmed.

  • Rudi George Scholtz - 2011-11-29 16:39

What happend to a safety at school? How can you "sneak" past teachers a just kidnap a child? I think the teacher is in on it all... cause no matter what you will always notice if someone enters the classroom... The mother somehow paid the teacher to look the otherway! catch the mom.. sent her to rehab and then to jail!

      richard.hipkin - 2011-11-29 16:42

This is not an episode of Isidingo.. Teachers in on it?? Snap back to reality Rudi!

      Rudi George Scholtz - 2011-12-01 13:14

Richard i mean how do you kidnap a child out of her class without anybody noticing that someone is in the classroom??? think about it logicaly

  • Felix - 2011-11-29 17:02

you are all over reacting, let the mother enjoy the birthday with her child , she will bring her back without a scratch.

      Rudi George Scholtz - 2011-11-30 00:46

It may not be that way, remeber the mother is a drug adict and prosituet... and in my own opinion a mother that are one or both of that things metioned above spells out bad news, cause we dont know if the mother has a drug debit to settle, and the only way she is going to do that is to exchange her daughter to clear her name. I'm not saying that it is that but just keep it in mind.

      Sharon - 2011-11-30 09:31

How do u know ............are u one of the men in the car ?????????????/

  • Sylvia - 2011-11-29 18:24

Sylvia Thomas This can only have a detrimental effect on the child if she ends up with the wrong people. We pray for her safe return.

  • Zena - 2011-11-30 07:05

My fear would be that the mother will prostitute her child to support her drug habit, I hope they find her before this becomes an option.

  • Sandy - 2011-11-30 08:23

I dont think much of the school , where was the class teacher at the time................

  • sadiemy - 2011-11-30 09:06

What's the bet the child is going to be prostituted to pay for the mother's drug habit?

  • Janice - 2011-11-30 09:15

She will sell her child!!! They better find her FAST!!!

  • Pepper - 2011-11-30 12:15

The little girl was snatched from her classroom by her mother after sneaking past teachers. how the hell did she manage to sneak past teachers was the teachers also on drugs. Just pray that the little girl is returned to her grandma safe and sound

  • Marcel - 2011-11-30 20:11

Hopefully they find her soon and that she has not been abused at all. We are praying for her. Her mother and the two bastards that are with her should be jailed for doing this. Maybe they will learn a lesson in prison but I very much doubt it as they will get away with it and only get a suspended sentence. Perhaps street law should rule in cases like this.
