"It is quite rainy in some parts of the province and we may have to close more roads because some of them become slippery in such weather," said spokesperson Tsepo Machaea.
The affected passes were the R67 between Fort Beaufort and Grahamstown, as well as between Seymour and Whittlesea.
The R61 between Graaff-Reinet and Cradock, together with the route between Barkly East and Elliot were also closed.
The SA Weather Service warned on its website the province would experience very cold conditions over the high ground, with snow expected on Monday morning over the north-eastern high ground.
