E Cape residents arrest rape suspect

Johannesburg - A man has been arrested by residents of Fingo village, in Grahamstown, for allegedly raping a hitchhiker, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.

Captain Mali Govender said a woman was hitchhiking when a man pulled over and offered her a lift on Monday evening. He allegedly raped the woman.

Local residents saw the attack and arrested him.

The 38-year-old man would appear soon in the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court.

    So we go from dont pick up hitchhikers because you might get highjacked to dont get picked up while hitchhiking or you might get raped. Feel sorry for people that actually care and what to help and for the people that are just looking for a way to get home.
