Johannesburg - Two women have been arrested in Katlehong for impersonating metro police, Ekhurhuleni metro police said on Sunday.

The metro police approached a vehicle obstructing the road in Katlehong on Saturday afternoon to ask the driver to move the vehicle, said Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago.

They noticed that the passenger, 36, was dressed in full metro police uniform, except for boots. She was unable to produce an appointment card.

"The suspect claimed that she got the uniform from the 40-year-old driver and further stated that she was only clad in the uniform to avoid joining the long queue at a pyramid scheme registration place in Radebe section," Kgasago said.

When the driver was confronted, she began sobbing, he said.

Both women were arrested for impersonation and possession of a stolen uniform and would appear in the Alberton Magistrate's Court on Monday.

That's their side of tge story, were there any firearms in the vehicle?? Remember that it is not only men that commit crimes. Could this not have been a decoy to another crime beeing committed somewhere else or on their way to bomb an ATM? Why was the vehicle blocking the road, this sounds very suspicious to me. In my days in the force, impersonating a police officer it was regarded as a very serious offence! These two will probably get off with a slap on the wrist though!?

She sobbed? Shaaame, poor baby! What about all the innocent citizens she might have hijacked, robbed, assaulted - they probably sobbed too from fear, humiliation, etc...... I have absolutely no sympathy whatsoever for her and any others like her. Lock her up and throw away the keys!
