Johannesburg - A 24-year-old shop owner has been shot dead in Duncan village, East London, police said on Tuesday.

Lieutenant Colonel Mtati Tana said the man, who had not yet been identified, was preparing to close the shop on Monday night when two armed men entered and shot him once in the head.

Tana said neighbours heard gunshots and phoned the police.

"On arrival, we found him lying dead in a pool of blood next to the counter," he said.

It had not yet been established whether anything was stolen.

poor guy , but this what we have to live with as the ruling party is to useless , corrupt , pathetic to stop or prevent crime in SA .

Shame my heart goes out to the family of the shop owner...this is what we as S-Africans have to deal with on a daily basis. All the ruling party is focusing on is how quickly they can fill their pockets and never mind the rest.

These murders are all on Zooma because he promotes killing the whites by singing his pathetic freedom song! What kind of humane president sings about killing another race? You know what they say, what goes around comes around! You should be the better person Mr. Zooma and stop this crime and murder in South Africa because us youth have got nothing to do with the apartheid era and we should not have to pay for it! Get a grip on yourself and make the people a priority in South Africa instead of your luxury items!
