Johannesburg - A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of his girlfriend in Mofokeng Section, Katlehong, on the East Rand, police said on Monday.

He allegedly shot the 28-year-old woman during an argument about a child his former girlfriend took to his home on Friday. The woman died at the scene, said Captain Mega Ndobe.

He said the man loaded the woman's body into her car and drove to Springs where he dropped it in bush.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the man on Saturday. He showed them where he had dumped the body.

Ndobe said he would appear soon in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court on charges of murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
