Johannesburg - Two men were arrested on Tuesday for shooting dead a taxi driver in Vosloorus, on the East Rand, police said.
The man was standing next to his minibus taxi at Somhlolo Taxi Rank when he was shot several times, said Captain Pinky Tsinyane.
"After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene with a white Toyota Conquest which was used as a getaway car."
Tsinyane said the community alerted patrolling police, who gave chase and cornered the men, aged 22 and 33, on the N3.
The driver was arrested. The other man jumped out of the car and ran away, but was later found in Pulong, extension six.
Police found a 9mm pistol in the car.
They would appear soon in the Vosloorus Magistrate's Court on charges of murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
