Johannesburg - The 2-year-old girl whose parents were believed to have died in an accident over the weekend, has been reunited with her father, Gauteng police on Tuesday.

"They reunited about an hour ago; the father was living in Katlehong," investigating officer Sergeant Mario Ness said.

The father was not in the minibus, as previously assumed.

Police managed to find the father in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg.

The girl survived an accident in which five people, including her mother died on Saturday afternoon.

Two women, a man, an 8-year-old girl, and a 5-year-old boy were killed when a VW Golf, driven by an alleged drunk driver, crashed into their minibus taxi in Alrode, Alberton.

The 36-year-old driver appeared in court on Monday and was granted bail.
