Eastern Cape cop, girlfriend found dead

Johannesburg - A policeman and his girlfriend were found dead inside a house in Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape on Friday, police said.

Passers-by discovered the two bodies lying on the floor around noon, Captain Ernest Sigobe said.

"The bodies had bullet wounds and there was a firearm lying next to them," he said.

Further details were not immediately available.

Sigobe said the officer was a member of the police's tactical response team.

Two inquests dockets were opened.
