Eastern Cape licence fees to rise

2012-06-20 07:26

Johannesburg - Motor vehicle licence fees will increase by 8% in the Eastern Cape from July 1, the provincial transport department said on Tuesday.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation had taken over control of increases of fees for things like learners', drivers' and roadworthy tests, it said in a statement.

Personalised number plates and agency fees for registering authorities would however not be increased.

The Eastern Cape had the fourth highest fees in South Africa.

Julian Booyens, there is already talk of getting all the Provinces in the country to pay for the Etolling system seeing that they realise they will not be getting the money from Gauteng motorists.

If the money goes towards road maintenance, then I would be happy to pay the increase but I doubt the fat cats would stop draining the private sector.

hi so bad for eastern cape so poor province and the road conditions poor conditions pot holes only the fat cats eating the money

So what else is new? The license fee for your vehicle increases every year, the motorist just does not realise it seeing that it only gets paid once a year. Take for instance the administration fee, it started as a once off payment of R30.00 for the upgrading of the license system, but when the Govt realised it generates money it is now beeing charged every year and is now already R36.00 as if the motorist does not know when his/her vehicle license expires. This Black govt knows how to coin it. Corruption is the name of the game.

The local, regional and national governments also known as cANCer are just a bunch of pathetic, useless, thieving, corrupt, incompetent nogood mother-tuckers. The increases, whether it be for electricity, water, rates, licences or whatever is almost always above inflation, but does not apply to salaries and wages. It is time for a DRASTIC CHANGE. We need a NEW government, please, please voters lets make this change SOOON.
