Eastern Cape man arrested for rape

Johannesburg - A man has been arrested for raping a 52-year-old woman in Butterworth, Eastern Cape police said on Monday.

The 27-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, Captain Jackson Manatha said.

The man knocked on the woman's door at about 04:00 on Sunday in R7 Location Mgomanzi Village, Butterworth.

"The victim opened for him and he entered the house armed with a knife," Manatha said.

The man raped the woman in her homestead and left.

The case was reported to the police and the man was arrested on the same day.

He is expected to appear in the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
