Eastern Cape man jailed over stabbing

Johannesburg - An Eastern Cape man was jailed for 10 years on Tuesday by the Willowvale Magistrate's Court for stabbing his girlfriend to death, police said.

Captain Jackson Manatha said 27-year-old Zama Gilimani was sentenced for murdering his 19-year-old girlfriend, Sikhokele Makhaphela, in 2011.

"It is believed that he stabbed the deceased out of jealousy."

Gilimani stabbed the woman in her upper body at a ceremony hosted by his family at Weza village in Willowvale.

She died on the scene.
