Johannesburg - A 17-year-old boy was arrested for the murder of a man on a farm in Humansdorp, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.

"An 18-year-old man lost his life on Friday night at about 7:20 when he and the alleged suspect had an argument on a farm in Oyster Bay, Humansdorp," Warrant Officer Gerda Swart said.

The argument was about a woman.

"The 18-year-old man was sitting inside a caravan when the suspect demanded to speak to a woman inside the caravan," Swart said.

"An argument erupted between the two which led to a fight. The two fought inside the caravan and it is further alleged that the suspect took an object and stabbed the 18-year-old man with it."

The boy handed himself over to police on Saturday morning.

He would appear in the Humansdorp Magistrates' Court on Tuesday on a charge of murder.
