Education official: I was redeployed

2012-07-04 07:24

Johannesburg - Former education administrator Anis Karodia claims he received a redeployment letter and was not fired from the Limpopo department of basic education, eNews reported on Tuesday.

"I wish to place on record that I was never fired," Karodia said.

"I was requested to be redeployed and I have a letter to prove it."

He was responding to an open letter by Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga in which she denied lying about firing him.

Karodia declined to comment on the matter to Sapa.

"Dr Karodia is no longer head of the intervention team because of the instructions that I gave that he be removed. Dr Karodia did not leave Limpopo out of his free will."

She said Karodia was not a "fall guy", and that at a briefing in Limpopo, she accepted responsibility for the "textbook problem".

Karodia and Motshekga apparently agreed not to speak publicly about the reasons behind his removal.

The City Press reported on June 24 that Motshekga blamed Karodia for the department's failure to deliver textbooks to Limpopo pupils.

"Motshekga must apologise to me and speak the truth to the public," Karodia told the newspaper.
"She must clear my name and speak the truth."

Angie and Karodia are both at fault... but then so is a thousand other condom comrades. THE ANC do not care about anything but themselves. VOTE DA! VOTE COPE!

Never mind all the politics ....... has this woman arranged the delivery of the outstanding learning material yet? There are children out there who would just love to 'own' a book - even if it is only a school text book. These are young lives you are busy destroying, Madam Minister.

      rodney.overes - 2012-07-04 08:41

When was he redeployed and after that how many months does she want to get organized and supply the books.

Gary agree and if we are reminded or so told , that there is a shortage of jobs I wonder how e these anc cadres get a job so easily. Most probably now getting two salaries and a big golden hand shake for moving office.

Close the gap between ur teeth maybe you'll speak sense.

      Johan - 2012-07-04 08:30

The only way that she will talk any sense is when she closes the gap between her teeth like you suggest permanently. The gap between the top and bottom teeth

  • Vicker - 2012-07-04 07:44

It is right about now that Motshekga will develop selective amnesia...

Motshekga must swallow her pride and accept de fact that she fumbled with Limpopo education. Dr Karodia was not there at the beginning of these problem, therefore it cant be him who is held accountable 4 dis!

  • ari.potah - 2012-07-04 08:09

These "official" could not even arrange a piss-up in a brewery . . .And they lie about everything too.

  • ernest.a.dumont - 2012-07-04 08:11

Sorry... redeployed isn't the same as firing... however in Govt offices a promotion is.. person is inept... can't be bothered or don't have the skills and ability to fire encourage and sing their praises for a promotion... problem becomes someone elses!! Redeployed usually occurs where the person is a thorn in one's side and it's similar to constructive dismissal... wish him luck in clearing his name... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN well maybe when the Department can buy and deliver text books it will!!

  • matthew.swanepoel.9 - 2012-07-04 08:36

This Angie woman is probably one of the most rotten people in the ANC at the moment, she is getting lost in her own web of lies, refuses to step down after the massive balls up she made. Wow.

  • josie.puchertmackenzie - 2012-07-04 08:46

The whole education department should be fired. They are all totally incompetent. If they were in private business do you think they woukld get away with such poor performance. For goodness sake ANC employ people who know what they are doing and how to do it. Oh I forgot, actually very few people who work for the ANC are competent.

  • john.lonsdale.5 - 2012-07-04 08:56

A big boy did it and ran away?

  • fanie.smit.5 - 2012-07-04 09:04

Zuma wont let her go because she supports him. In any other country outside of Africa, she would have resigned by February. This problem started in 2011 and is only sorted out (sic) in June 2012. What a fiasco! But then this is once more proof that the ANC is losing it.

  • mdu.s.khumalo - 2012-07-04 09:23

Education in this country is a circus. If it is not teachers toytoying, the department will make sure to make it much worse.

      themba.thwala.98 - 2012-07-04 10:04

Number 1 has, by his own admission never been to school, although some of us are kind and have awarded an honorary Grade 5 to him. That is why he's happy that Angie can just apologise and show remorse, as long he blames it on some poor man on the street. A tragic comedy of errors this administration is!

  • gregory.wellsclifton - 2012-07-04 09:45

She must speak WHAT? The TRUTH did he say? This Government wouldn't know truth if it slammed into exposed genitalia!!!

  • winifred.watson.9 - 2012-07-04 09:58

Whilst these two and playing the blame game, the children have suffered because of their shoddy works. Angie must take full responsibility because she is the head of the dept. Head of dept means you do your job otherwise your head is on the line. You cannot delegate a job and sit back and put your feet up for the rest of the year. It is her job to keep a check that things are running smoothly in her dept and that the schools were getting the books. There must have been numerous calls by the schools for text books, so she cant deny that she was unaware of the problem, unaware that children sit in the hot sun to be educated instead of a class room, use ice cream containers for a desk. Minister, stop being arrogant, never mind who is to blame or who is sabotaging what, you should have been on this problem from day one. You have not been doing your job, you have been coasting on the gravy train. You have been caught out now move over and let somebody try and do a better job. No redeployment for you, you are not worthy of yet another chance, what you did is a CRIME.

  • Gus - 2012-07-04 11:04

Is it a requirement to be fat, ugly, incompetent to be a minister in the Zuma cabinet?

  • Archie - 2012-07-04 11:44

The rot starts at the top.Vote anything but the tripartheid(new apartheid)alliance .they are a bunch of retarded cadres.Moving useless people around makes the problem worse. As any good business in the real world(non communist)would have never employed them in the first place.Limpopo pupils are now scarred for life.Where is the money that was originally allocated for the books?Allocated to whose pocket? With a crooked gov,the kids have little chance of a decent wage.Guarenteed the top thieves walk away with no prosecution or jail waiting for them
