Johannesburg - An elderly man has been arrested for raping his granddaughter in Bodibe, North West police said on Sunday.

Colonel Emelda Setlako said the 77-year-old man was arrested on Thursday.

According to the grandmother, she found the man raping the 9-year-old girl in the bedroom.

"The victim had a R5 coin in her hand which the suspect had given to her."

In Mahikeng, police arrested a 48-year-old man for allegedly raping his daughter.

Setlako said the 11-year-old girl went missing for three days and reported the rape when she returned home.

Another man was sought for raping an 8-year-old girl in Bloemhof last Thursday.

The girl was playing with her friends when the man asked the children to help him look for pigs. He promised them money in return for their help.

"While they were busy searching in an open field, he called the victim to the bushes and raped the victim," said Setlako.

The man ran away when he realised people were passing by.
