Polokwane - Six men have been arrested for allegedly killing and robbing two elderly brothers in Glenfenis village, in the Capricorn district in Limpopo, provincial police said on Monday.

It was believed six armed men entered a general dealer around 21:30 on Thursday night then shot and killed George and Joseph Lebogo, both in their 70s, police said in a statement.

A third person was shot in the leg and taken to hospital.

"The suspects took a Toyota Hilux and fled from the scene. The vehicle was later found abandoned in the village. A manhunt was launched for the suspects and the first four were arrested on Friday morning," police said.

"The remaining two were arrested during the weekend by members of Maleboho crime prevention, detectives and crime intelligence members."

Three 9mm firearms with the serial numbers filed off, as well as ammunition, were allegedly found in their possession.

"The suspects are already linked to other cases in the area such as stock theft and house robberies. Investigations to link them to even more cases of armed robbery are ongoing," police said.

The six were expected to appear in the Bochum Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of murder, armed robbery and possession of unlicensed fire arms and ammunition.
