Elderly couple die in old age village fire

Johannesburg - An elderly couple was killed when their apartment at an old age village in Bloemfontein caught fire on Friday morning, paramedics said.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, the free standing apartment was engulfed in flames, ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser said.

Security guards said the fire started at around 02:30. The cause was not known yet.

The couple, both in their 70's, died on the scene.

    How anyone can give a thumbs down for a tragedy like this is beyond me. Have we in RSA become so heartless? For heavens sake, show some compassion please. These were elderly people. How would you like it if something like this had to happen to your parents or grandparents?
