Cape Town - Two elderly sibling suffered severe burn wounds in a shack fire in Munsieville, west of Johannesburg, on Saturday morning.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring in a statement said paramedics were called to the scene by provincial emergency services where they found fire services battling the blaze.

“Paramedics were ushered to two patients, a male and female in their 70s, who had sustained severe burns over most of their bodies. Both patients were in a critical condition,” he said.

The patients were treated with advanced life support interventions.

“Once treated, one of the patients was airlifted to Johannesburg General Hospital. The second patient was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.”
