Elderly visitor shot dead

Johannesburg - An 81-year-old man was shot dead on Friday night during an attempted robbery at his neighbour's house in Nooitgedacht, Muldersdrift, West Rand police said.
"The deceased was allegedly visiting his neighbours and all of them were sitting around the fireplace when three men stormed inside the room and shouted that no one should move. The suspects then randomly opened fire, fatally wounding Ulrich Lange," police Superintendent Milica Bezuidenhout said.
The neighbour gave chase and a shootout with the men ensued. No one else was injured and the trio fled empty-handed.
