Johannesburg - An elderly woman was robbed at her house in the Generaal De Wet area of Bloemfontein on Friday morning, police said.

Captain Chaka Marope said the 82-year-old woman was busy with housework when she heard a noise in the house. When she went to investigate, three men armed with knives accosted her.

"The suspects threatened her and ransacked the house looking for the valuables. They then took jewellery, a cellphone and a digital camera and disappeared."

The woman's son-in-law called the police. The robbers gained entry through an open window. No arrests had been made yet.
