Eskom: Enough power...for now

Johannesburg - Eskom has just enough emergency resources to cope with the evening peak, resulting in a high risk of load shedding, the power provider said on Friday.
This was after Eskom warned that load shedding could resume at very short notice on Friday morning after certain generating units were "lost" overnight.
"We do not anticipate load shedding this weekend, however the risk remains high for today as we have only enough resources for the evening peak," said spokesperson Sipho Neke.
The company said it was using all emergency resources to make up for the shortage.
"The risk remains high and we continue to urge consumers to conserve energy by switching off non-essential equipment and geysers, and to consume electricity sparingly. This will assist in reducing the demand," Neke said.
Businesses should also keep non-essential lighting and office equipment switched off, especially between 07:00 to 10:00 and 18:00 to 21:00.
