2012-01-20 16:10

Johannesburg - Eskom's Megawatt Park headquarters in Johannesburg has been declared safe, and employees are back at work, after an earlier bomb threat, a spokesperson said on Friday.

The facility had been evacuated after a threat was made at about noon on Friday.

"I can confirm there has been a bomb scare, which was phoned in at about noon," Eskom spokesperson Hilary Joffe had told News24.

The evacuation took place soon afterwards, she said.

Joffe said at the time that she could not give any more details.

An Eskom employee who wanted to remain anonymous told News24 all staff were told to move outside because of the threat.

How can employees get back to work when they never went to work today. These eskom employees are overpaid for the kind of work they do.There is no competition therefore no risk from other power supplies gaining market share. I wish i could work for eskom-NO stress at all.

Heh-heh, what you sow you will reap!!??!! Now what is the increase again this year????? Mmmmmmmmmmm...........

      Mike - 2012-01-20 18:28

My poor friend Daniel! So you recon I pay 52.30 cents per Kw? Surprise! I pay R 1.05/Kw (contracted directly to Escom!). A 97% increase from the previous year! The 25% increase is only applicable to residence using less than 200Kw per month (3 x 60w globes plus one TV and 9 baths!) - See Escom website for using 600Kw more and more! (Would love your comment on THIS one!) So next time before you comment? I suggest you do your research and homework!!

A established community "5"km out of Plettenberg bay, a mojor tourist a area, and where most of the workforce stay, has been waitng for 15 years for Eskom to actually service them. After many years of BS, and capacity challenges, WE now get told we'll have to wait another 5 years,,,, I SAY BOMB THE F.....kers.

      Mike - 2012-01-20 18:32

Well Wayne, the excuse of maintenance for "load-shedding", i.e. bonuses has run dry! Who-ha, we are now back in the 80's with bombs targeting the infra-structure! Just wonder who the hell is behind it???? The fourth force??

  • Sharon - 2012-01-20 18:19

Now who would want to blow up Eskom's headquarters? Wow I can think of 50 million suspects..

      Mike - 2012-01-20 18:35

Now THAT would put some "ENERGY" behinded their backsides!!!

  • Rudi Nel - 2012-01-20 19:28

Shame Daniel, seems like the people are on your case - but it took you a long time to get the picture.

  • Michael - 2012-01-20 20:59
