Ex-ANC MP's alleged killers stay in jail

2012-06-16 08:05

Johannesburg - Two men accused of killing former ANC MP David Dlali appeared in the Matatiele Magistrate's Court on Friday, Eastern Cape police said.

Brigadier Miranda Mills said Simthembile Jakalase, 22, and Matselandile Mehlomakhulu, 20, would be back in court on June 19.

They remain in custody.

Jakalase was the farm manager while Mehlomakhulu worked as a shepherd on Dlali's farm. They were arrested on Tuesday, a day after his body was found near the farm.

They appeared in the Mthatha Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, when the matter was transferred to Matatiele.

Mills said police recovered an AK-47 rife, two magazines and 11 rounds of ammunition, as well as R5 000.

Dlali's funeral was held on Thursday. Born on January 23 1960, in Mount Frere, Dlali served in various Western Cape provincial structures.

He was a member of the provincial executive committee and chairperson of the Dullah Omar region.

He served as an MP, representing Gugulethu between 2001 and 2009. He was special adviser to Minister of Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Lulu Xingwana.

Strange Killers stay in Jail while civilians that get murdered their killers get to walk around for months and even years. Seems the justice only works for the untouchables.

If this was a normal farm killing these bastards would already be out, planning they're next crime... I have and never will have any faith in our ruling party...

That's a completely ridiculous comment to make. If this was a "normal farm killing" the bastards would never have been brought in, and we'd have our esteemed "leaders" telling us "racists" that farm killings are a figment of our collective imagination.

Don't worry they won't be released early either. This is how justice should work.

So the moral of the story is pretty clear. It has nothing to do with race any more because they are killing their own. Basically, find less well off whites in those squatter camps near Krugersdorp and employ them to take care of farms and the farmer.

      Alfred - 2012-06-17 02:57

It has everything to do with race because the "they" that you are referring to are always of the same race. The fact that "they" kill their own aswell doesn't make me feel better in the slightest. They shouldn't be killing anyone, period.
