Johannesburg - Boy Mamabolo, a former friend of axed ANC Youth League president Julius Malema, will appear in a Limpopo court next week on charges of crimen injuria and assault following a spat via SMS, according to a report on Friday.

The Sowetan reported Mamabolo would appear in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court on Tuesday after he allegedly sent a threatening SMS to Malema saying he would exhume his late mother Mahlodi's body and take it to his grandmother's Sarah's home in Seshego.

Mamabolo arrived at the Polokwane police station on Thursday accompanied by his lawyer Pholoto Seopela, who asked that he should not be kept in custody. He was released on warning.

Malema laid charges against Mamabolo after receiving the text message.

Earlier this week, The Star newspaper reported that Mamabolo sent Malema the SMS, which said: "This time I want to show you that I am more brutal and exhume Mahlodi from the grave and lay her in front of (your grandmother's house). You have done many bad things to me."
