Fans sing last chorus for Lebo

2006-10-28 14:44

Johannesburg - Talented musician Lebo Mathosa has been laid to rest.

"The service went well and hundreds of people attended," said her manager, Linzy Cowley, on Saturday.

Fans, family and friends gathered at the Benoni city hall to pay their final respects.

Lebo Mathosa, 29, was killed in an accident on the N3 near Germiston early on Monday, when her driver lost control of a Toyota Prado and crashed into a tree.

The 20-year-old driver was uninjured and has made an affidavit to the police about the event.

A memorial service at the Sandton Convention Centre on Thursday saw scores of friends and family paying their last respects to Mathosa.

Mathosa shot to fame in 1994 as a member of kwaito group Boom Shaka and released her first solo album in 2000. She has appeared in a number of South African soapies and has won numerous awards.

Latest comment in South Africa

Willem de Haan says... Ah Tony! I like that bit about the competent capable qualified personel in your comment. A great idea! You know, if that were to happen, that would be the greatest catastrophy to hit this country since apartheid! Why, you ask? Well because that would result in efficiency so that the work now being done by three or four would be done by one only so that at least 50% of the staff would be retrenched - can you imagine the striking and dancing in the streets and tyre burning and car torching that would cause? Total riot! Marikana would look like a Sunday school picnic by comparison! No, rather stick to the cadre deployment we now have - at least we have some peace! Read the article...
