Farmer robbed, shot

Johannesburg - A 36-year-old farmer was admitted to hospital in a serious condition after he was shot and wounded during an armed robbery at his farm in Bronkhorstspruit near Pretoria, Gauteng police said on Sunday.
Spokesperson Constable Seli Skhosana said the incident occurred on Saturday.
"The three armed men gained entry to the house by breaking the front door while the farmer, his wife and two children were asleep, at around 02:00."
"He heard a strange noise and went to the lounge to investigate. There he came across the three, who held him and his wife up, demanding money.
"The trio ransacked the house, but did not find any money. They then took his suit, jewellery and cellphones," she said.
Skhosana said one of the men shot the farmer once in the upper body before they fled.
He was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.
She said investigation were under way and no arrests have been made.
