Mafikeng - A 48-year-old North West man had his daughter to thank for winning Saturday's R10m jackpot, National Lottery operator, Gidani said on Wednesday.

The man was browsing the lottery website at work on Monday when he discovered he had won the jackpot with numbers chosen by his youngest daughter, Gidani said in a statement.

He travelled to the National Lottery offices to claim his prize and all doubt disappeared when the operator confirmed him as the winner of the jackpot.

The man said he was not planning to tell anyone about his win, including his two daughters.

"I do not even plan to celebrate my win," he said.

Asked what he thought his daughters would want if they knew of his fortune, he said they would be happy with a holiday trip to the coast.

The man planned to take an early retirement with his winnings by buying a farm and pursuing commercial farming as a hobby.
