Limpopo - The Magatle periodical court in Limpopo has ordered the State to hand over an apparent confession by a father accused of killing his four children to the man's defence.

Magistrate George Mokou made a ruling after nearly three hours of wrestling between the State and Lesiba Kekana's defence. He eventually ruled it was in the interests of justice for Kekana's legal team to be given the documents.

Kekana is accused of slitting the throats of his four children last month. He faces four charges of murder after allegedly killing his sons, aged 4, 6, 10 and 13.

The children were killed at the couple's home after Kekana allegedly had a fight with his wife.

Dressed in a navy blue suit, Kekana kept his eyes focused on his attorney and the magistrate. He avoided eye contact with the group of women in the public gallery holding up placards demanding bail be denied.

The women were led by ANC Women's League provincial chairperson Joy Matshokge and her executive.

The hearing continues.
