2012-08-21 07:12

Johannesburg - A grass fire is thought to have set alight a silo at the Epol animal feed factory in Roodepoort on Monday, causing damage estimated at R4m, said Johannesburg Emergency Management Services.

It took three fire engines an hour to extinguish the blaze, said spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi.

"The silo, in which the factory stores plastic bags, was in flames," he said.

The fire appeared to have been caused by a grass fire at the side of the factory, in Einde street. Firefighters were called in at 21:00. No one was injured.
