About 70 firefighters worked through the night to keep the fire under control, said Table Mountain National Park’s Phillip Prins.

The fire started in Glencairn Heights and moved towards Fish Hoek, with flames fanned by a strong wind.

About 40 fresh crew will be out on the mountain, Prins told News24.

He said many of the firefighters who worked on Wednesday had also worked the previous night on a blaze on Signal Hill.

Four helicopters have been dispatched on Thursday morning.

No properties were in danger, said Prins. No one has been injured.
