Five arrested in drug den bust
Johannesburg - Five people were arrested after police swooped on a flat in downtown Johannesburg on Thursday and found a large quantity of drugs, the Hawks said.
It was presumed the drugs were crushed and sold from there, said spokesperson McIntosh Polela.
The estimated street value was not immediately known.
Another two people were arrested for possession of drugs in Cape Town.
Police spokesperson November Filander said one of them was arrested in Muizenburg on Thursday after police came across a suspicious man standing on a street.
Police found an assortment of drugs including tik, cocaine, Mandrax tablets and cash when they search him.
In an unrelated incident, a woman collecting a parcel containing cocaine was arrested at the Cape Mail Distribution Centre in Epping on Thursday.
"The cocaine, concealed in a steel pipe, was posted from Sao Paulo in Brazil," said Filander.
The cocaine had an estimated street value of R300 000.
