Five teens held for gang rape

2011-10-08 17:30

Durban - Five teenage boys were arrested in Ematimatolo near Greytown for allegedly gang raping a woman, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Saturday.

The boys, aged 15 to 19, were arrested on Friday for the rape of a 24-year-old woman at the start of the month, Colonel Jay Naicker said.

The woman and her friends were on their way to a party when she was grabbed by a group of men.

She was apparently taken to a nearby church before being repeatedly raped.

The group would appear in the Greytown Magistrate's Court on Monday.

      Spetnaz - 2011-10-08 19:37

south africa need to adpot chemical castration against these low life scum bags.

      Jeff - 2011-10-08 20:49

Sad but true, they should apply the same law as middle east.. off it come's

      KarooOstrich - 2011-10-08 21:10

@ Spetnaz, no no U can't do things like that. It will infringe on their human rights.

      AMS-Dammer - 2011-10-09 05:52

This "NATIONAL SPORT" is just plain FCKING SICK!

      Dave50 - 2011-10-09 05:59

Terrorist tactics that were condoned in the struggle, now they have found out that they like it and do not realise that this is a crime because they were encouraged to do these kind of things to help the "struggle". The problem is now it is their own people that are suffering, political school will not help this, only punishment strong enough to be a deterent, which we do not have today because they have got rid of the death penalty and anything close to it.

      Antwahn - 2011-10-09 11:10

Here in SA, it's just some juvenile simians sowing their wild oats -nothing unusual.

  • Bokke - 2011-10-08 17:53

    Cut their pen***!!

  • czovczov - 2011-10-08 18:02

I cant believe we live in a country where a woman can be easily snatched off the streets at any given moment by a bunch of animals and be gang raped. Are we really that primitive? Are we really that sick? We really need to reconsider the punishment for rape and introduce castration to deter these animals who don't deserve to live amongst us humans.

      StoneFlint - 2011-10-08 18:07

"reconsider the punishment for rape" ok so what, your saying murder, robbery, and all the other evil doings are acceptable? I say hang the lot of them...every single last one of them. USLESS GOOD FOR NOTHONG OX

      barry.mcbride - 2011-10-08 18:43

@StoneFlint: Why would czovczov be implying that because, although I don’t necessarily agree with his comment, he didn’t mention anything about other crimes but only that the punishment for rape should perhaps be reviewed?

  • Darryl - 2011-10-08 18:30

De La Ray Sal Jy die BOERE kom lei....?

  • Speakersonder - 2011-10-08 18:41

There's no romantic living in SA, rape is the only way, rooster brains. Another cause for this high rate of rape is their bad socialbeing from locations.

  • Ian - 2011-10-08 19:18

cut it off and then hang them

  • Robbie - 2011-10-08 19:20

My point is that it is the black people that are F_cking up this country.

      barry.mcbride - 2011-10-08 19:40

ok then, and such an inane comment is doing what for SA, except endorsing racism.

      chantal de pierres - 2011-10-08 20:34

What on earth does this have to do with rape?

      Really1 - 2011-10-08 23:20

It is part of their culture. If you don't know it by now you are just as backward as them. They don't refer to it as rape. Rape is a civilised term. They call it 'when nature call'. Your president do it so why can't they? Wake up and smell the coffee.

      FrankieM - 2011-10-10 17:17

Robbie, wake up and smell the roses, its not only blacks that rape, there are countless cases of whites raping. POint is, they are all useless and should be hanged or at the very least their manhood cut off so they cannot do this again. If someone uses a gun in a crime, then the gun is taken away, the same should apply to a penis

  • Aleg - 2011-10-08 19:23

1 in 4 'men' in South Africa have admitted to having raped a woman. It is estimated that 1 in every 3 women in South Africa have been victims of rape. Until the mindset of certain males is drastically altered, this barbaric crime will be perpetuated. Ukuthwala, the so called tradition of stealing (forcibly abducting against their will) young women and forcing them to become wives and raping them; the so-called tradition of polygamous relationships (the resulting offspring brings about total unsustainability & a burgeoning population explosion & poverty) and where women are seen merely as a commodity. Rapists should be permanently removed from society, South Africa & the gene pool so that they cannot influence others with their criminal moral codes, that their elimination will act as a deterrent to other would-be rapists & that their criminal genes cannot be passed on. That 5 males can conspire to overpower and gang rape a single woman is indicative of their cowardice & total disgrace to the word Male. Was there not ONE member of the gang who said "This is wrong"? Rabid scumdogs.

  • gatvol4corru - 2011-10-08 20:04

    followed Jacob's lead

  • ChiefJustice - 2011-10-08 20:10

I 've just read a story of two USA Privates raping teenage girls in South Korea. What I can't understand how can five teenage boys who must be on their school holidays join a gang and mess-up this poor womans life. The ANSWER I think is there needs to be a Universal Law that if a male or female, take part in anyway, in a rape their lives should be placed in the hands of the Military of the respective countries. Be it a military school where they can be trained to become more human then animals...

      atleeyarrow - 2011-12-04 15:25

I don't envision your rehab as a working idea since it is well know an idea has a life all its own. A more effect way is to fly these five out over the Indian Ocean at several thousand meters in altitude, decompress the cargo area and let their frozen bodies shatter as they hit the water. Then this idea no longer has a means to spread.

  • dithala - 2011-10-08 20:50

    Where else can it be?:0

      Darryl - 2011-10-08 21:58

Uhm dithala, the spelling is on the screen, its not "delarei" but De La Ray. learn (something you obviously never did) to spell, and type! That stolen keyboard of yours has something wrong with it, or maybe its just you, i'm guessing its the latter, not that you would know the meaning of that. and yes "Shoot De la Ray, skiet hulle dood"

      RACINGCAT - 2011-10-09 07:05

I think that the person from who he stole the keyboard swapped round some of the keytops.

  • KarooOstrich - 2011-10-08 21:21

They sure start youg with this sort of thing - I see the youngest is only 15. We live in a sick society. Now they go to prison + after a few yrs. come out. The chances are they will not have been properly re-habilitated + will do the same thing again. Just a vicious circle. Really sick. It's time to bring back hard labour + bring in the chain gangs. Pay back time for them. These animals owe society + their victims big time.

  • v3 - 2011-10-08 23:04

... and President 783 has appointed a Chief Justice on no other known grounds than he is rapist-friendly!

The need is there to protect the culture.

  • Craig Louw - 2011-10-09 01:31

@ aleg, where do you get your stats? Please qualify.

      Aleg - 2011-10-09 07:25

"A woman born in S A has a greater chance of being raped than learning how to read. A study by Interpol, the international police agency, has revealed that S A leads the world in rapes. A woman was raped in S A every 17 seconds. This did not include the number of child rape victims. It was estimated that 1 in every 2 women would be raped." - 1 in 3 men admit to rape, 1 in 4 women interviewed said they had been raped, but only 1 in 25 rapes were reported to police. 1 in 3 men : "A child's raped in S A every 3 minutes, but almost 9 out of 10 cases of child rape are never reported” "1 in 3 women had been raped in the past year"- From View on Violence - between 1 in 3 and 1 in 2 women will be raped in their lifetime in South Africa - Gang rape in SA: "..estimated 1,300 women raped daily in SA.." Every 1 1/2 minute a women is raped in S A, total approximately 386,000 women raped each year. a quarter of men admitted to having raped, & 46% of those said that they had raped more than once.

      Off Grid - 2011-10-09 22:12

@Aleg ... that is hardly proper statistics .... Where was this "survey" done? Alex? Soweto? In my group of friends, which number about 30 male friends, NONE would admit to rape. How's that for MY statistics? Also of the +- 40 women in the circle, NONE have been raped. So where did these "statistics" come from?

      Aleg - 2011-10-10 10:26

@Off Grid. I appreciate your critical thinking. I too doubt whether any of the males I know would admit to rape & I'd be horrified to think that any of them are capable of perpetrating such an awful crime. Unfortunately females within my circle & broader circle have been victims. (Extrapolating demographic data, 1 in every 10 friends should be HIV positive, yet I don't know of anyone who is.) I used to be guilty of sitting in a little sheltered enclave, having no idea what's really going on in SA. To be enlightened please volunteer at a Rape Crisis Centre - you will be able to find one closest to you at - or at POWA (People Opposing Women Abuse) (the latter actually estimate that about a million women are raped in SA each year - I hope that you read through the links I have posted here as well as the ones in my previous post to get further info, but there is nothing quite as edifying as helping out in the Rape Crisis Centres, or at a police station in one of the impoverished areas (the more affluent areas do deal with such crimes, just not on the same scale). As I mentioned in my 1st posting, the patriarchal mindset of certain males in SA needs to be changed through education, where the pervasive issue of women viewed as inferior voiceless property that needs to be dominated, is seen instead as a human being of equal rights & allowed to say NO.

  • Really1 - 2011-10-09 02:25

Moegoe Moegoe will be happy. They took her to church first.

  • Chillibean - 2011-10-09 04:12

Bloody savages!!!!!! NOW, lock them up in prison, so they too can be gang-raped!!!

  • Buffalo - 2011-10-09 06:56

The problem with black SA society is this: `The woman and her friends were on their way to a party when she was grabbed by a group of men.', why did the woman's friends not raise an alarm that would bring MEN running to assist a lady in distress? How come all the others at the party did nothing to apprehend these rapists? Because the rapists, the friends and everyone else at the party, have been so indoctrinated by their so-called struggle, that they have forgotten how to behave as human beings. These rapists, for the most part, were not even alive to experience apartheid. Yet the criminal anc continues to indoctrinate the ignorant with `crime makes good'. Nothing good will come of this country, black SA, until you stand against criminality at home, at school, at the work place and in the police force. Your maintaining of a criminal government will destroy this country and then you will be just like the rest of black Africa: sitting on your ar$es waiting for a handout from the white man. Enjoy the games . . .

  • diewitbaas - 2011-10-09 07:41

    It's apartheid's fault. Entitlement, see.

  • cat29 - 2011-10-09 09:52

yoh KarooOstrich, I pray that you never have to endear to having one of your woman gang raped. WHAT ABOUT HER HUMAN RIGHTS. go to hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      PinkandProud - 2011-10-09 12:29

Before launching your little tirade, did you read what KarooOstrich wrote?

      Riëtte - 2011-10-10 18:02

I'm not understanding your comment? he is stating that justice will once more fail an innocent woman. I agree with him, let the bastards go to jail and be punished like the men they thought they were when they whipped it out and raped a woman.

One thing I noticed is the lack of transparency in news reporting. Here we post the names of those arrested and their police arrest photos for all those over the age of 13 years of age. This wold help neighborhoods and whole communities to clean up by making sure these unwanted elements are shown the light of day. It would also make such elements think twice before acting stupid.
