Fleeing prisoners kill passer-by

2012-05-23 20:13

Johannesburg - A woman was killed after four awaiting trial prisoners escaped from police custody while being transported to Mthatha on Wednesday, Eastern Cape police said.

The four men were being taken from Ngquana police station to Mthatha when they overpowered their police escort in Butterworth, said Captain Ernest Sigobe.

"They took three police firearms, and then a woman passer-by was shot and killed," he said.

The four men, awaiting trial for armed robbery and possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, escaped between 10:00 and 11:00.

The men stole the police vehicle that was transporting them and later abandoned it in the Tanga area. They then hijacked a passing car and were still being sought by police.

"Police are on a manhunt as we speak, and call on the community to avoid the men because they are dangerous," Sigobe said.

Probably the passerby spotted the police handing over the fire arms and Car keys to their prisoner buddies and she had to die......

And I wonder who's going to be charged with this killing? The prisoners or the super competent cops who let them escape?

Once again, half a article. Why was the woman shot?? Was it a accidental discharge. Did they just walk up to her and shoot her? Did she try intervene? I mean it is the headline of the article. Another thing,, between 10h00 and 11h00? A lot can happen in a hour. Please give more info news24.

Teebby . . what u r saying is the extreme possibility . . let me tell u why . . 1.It is not the first time Mthatha police deliberately releasing prisnors who have this kind of allegations . . 2.The prisnors of that nature r usualy escorted under heavily armed police officers . .3.WHY did they open the police van while the prisnors r not cuffed..4.Why they shot the woman who is not armed instead of killing the police . . How did prisnors get all the firearms without shooting the police if they can kill a woman . . Therefore we r not fools . . THE PRISNORS WERE RELEASED AND GUNS WERE HANDED OVER FOR A SPECIAL MISSION . . We r going to hear very soon that those escaped prisnors have robbed a lot of highly secured properties with ease because those police will also be involved to weaken the entrance to such properties . . .We r "PROTECTED" by criminals
