Foreigner shot in Uitenhage

Port Elizabeth - An Ethiopian man was wounded when he was shot during a botched robbery in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape police said on Friday.

Lieutenant Colonel Priscilla Naidu said Faizel Sulliman, 22, and two other Ethiopian men were asleep in a rented room in Valencia on Thursday night when they heard a loud bang on the door.

A person outside shouted for them to open the door, but when they asked him to identify himself there was no reply.

The three then propped themselves against the door to prevent it being kicked in.

The person outside opened fire, wounding Sulliman in the chest and neck.

Naidu said the motive for the shooting could have been robbery, but a case of attempted murder was being investigated.

Just another day in South Africa, where the sun rises in the morning and sets at night on a stinking mess of human souls.
