2011-12-09 20:23

Durban - Two robbers wearing police uniforms were among four people arrested after a shoot-out with the police in the Bluff area in Durban on Friday morning, said KwaZulu-Natal police.

Police spokesperson Vincent Mdunge said: "On arrival at a house robbery, police came face-to-face with the four gunmen who started shooting at them.

"Police returned fire and wounded two suspects who were immediately arrested."

The other two were arrested later with the help of the police dog unit.

One was hospitalised with bite wounds, said Mdunge.

He said the robbers had used computer cables to tie up four people in the house and stole, among other things, a plasma television set, cash and cellphones.

"They also tried to remove the safe from the wall."

The four were expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court soon.

Police should have hanged or strangled those delinquents with those computer cables

Well done to those cops in what must have been difficult conditions. As much as the I want revenge and feel these people should be shot and killed, they didn't injure their victims except by causing them trauma which is no small thing. We are too quick to want the criminals killed and this can have the reverse effect of ensuring that if they get away leaving their own members behind dead or alive, next time they will be more violent with their victims. My sympathies with the victims nonetheless; hope you receive some trauma counselling to helkp get past this.
