Johannesburg - Two policemen accused of fraud and corruption have been granted bail by the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court, Free State police said on Tuesday.

The were granted bail during an appearance on Monday, said Warrant Officer Zweli Mohobeleli.

"One of them is retired, while the other is still serving as an officer," he said.

Diphapang Joe Moeketsi, 60, who is retired, and Samuel Moeketsi Rametsi face charges of fraud and corruption for allegedly stealing cash meant for police informers.

Rametsi was granted bail of R5 000 and Moeketsi bail of R10 000.

The court decided they would be tried separately. Moeketsi would appear in court again on 7 March and Rametsi on 8 March. Trial dates were expected to be set on those days.
